Our Mission: To address adult poverty in Durham County by offering low-cost merchandise for distribution through organizational memberships to non-profit agencies and faith-based organizations; to provide on-the-job training to the unemployed and those who are hard to employ; and to serve as an organizer and change agent in building and developing strategic partnerships to help address the root causes of poverty.

DERC is also sponsored by Dignity U Wear, a national charity organization that aims to positively impact the lives of children and their families by providing quality clothing. Jackie Brown, a North Carolina native, is the CEO of DERC. Ms. Brown received both a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Master's in Business Admin. from Duke University. She has extensive experience in business management and consulting, with both corporate and non-profit organizations. She recently taught business classes at both NCCU and Durham Tech and was elected Resource Development Director of the Raleigh-Durham Chapter of the National Black MBA Association.
